Bay Area Vintage Base Ball at San Quentin Athletics

Baseball has been at San Quentin since the 1920’s. Since 1994, SQ Baseball has welcomed teams from the outside to play their incarcerated ball club. Of the 6,000 inmates, the SQ baseball club consists of 24 individuals.

Our second trip to San Quentin was after the conclusion of our 2019 season. Two total Pelicans made the trip with many other ballists from B.A.V.B.B. Many of the A’s welcomed our return to their “Field of Dreams” and were excited to play 1886 baseball.

As time would tell, this would be the final game for the San Quentin baseball team for almost two years. COVID-19 would keep any other baseball volunteers from exhibition play until 2022.
